This is the basic qualification into the issues of psychological measurement and introduces you to the concepts of reliability, validity, norm groups as well as the practical issues of administering tests and applying them fairly. It is a pre-requisite for those who also wish to achieve the BPS and EFPA qualifications known as Test User Personality. This course is for people who wish to improve their selection and development processes by introducing psychometric tests, understand how to select, apply and interpret tests in a range of instruments, gain practical experience in the administration and feedback of test results.
There is pre-course work accessible online allowing sufficient familiarisation for you to be able to achieve British Psychological Society (BPS) and the European Federation of Psychological Associations (EFPA) certificates of competence. You join Virtual Meetings to address questions and to prepare you for your practical session whereby you find a volunteer to whom you administer ability tests, scoring and provide feedback. This session is videoed and sent in for assessment
This course will be led by a Chartered Occupational Psychologist. The course is supervised by Dr. Roy Childs , Consultant Editor for the BPS Test Review process and a BPS Verifier for this level of course.
On successful completion you will have access to all the PfS ability tests (Verbal, Numerical, Abstract, Memory and Attention, Decision Analysis) which cover a broader range of cognitive capabilities than you will find with other publishers. You will also achieve the following internationally recognised qualification which allows you to purchase and use tests from most reputable test publishers:
BPS and EFPA Certificates: the course is verified to enable course delegates to receive the internationally recognised certificates of competence known as Test User Personality (formerly Level B) if certain pre-requisites have been met.
